ELECTORAL LITERACY CLUB

COLLEGE OF APPLIED SCIENCE (IHRD), CHELAKKARA

The Electoral Literacy Club at the College of Applied Science, Chelakkara (IHRD), has been actively promoting electoral awareness and encouraging civic participation among students since its establishment in August 2022. Under the guidance of faculty members and student volunteers, the club has organized various programs, including Voter Awareness Campaigns, Voter Registration Campaigns, Ethical Voting Debates, Surveys, Electoral Literacy Day, and Talks on Anti-Corruption Day. These initiatives aim to empower students with knowledge about electoral processes, voting rights, and democratic practices, fostering an informed and active student body.

The club’s efforts have been successful in promoting electoral awareness and encouraging active citizenship. The college has also introduced socially relevant initiatives, including mandatory student elections, to advance democratic values and provide students with practical exposure to electoral processes. These initiatives allow students to experience the workings of a democratic system firsthand and understand the importance of participating in free and fair elections. Additionally, the club organizes specialized training programs to enhance students' understanding of the legal aspects of elections and the significance of maintaining electoral integrity in a democracy.

Through these initiatives, the Electoral Literacy Club ensures that students are equipped with critical knowledge and encouraged to embrace their civic responsibilities. The club plays a crucial role in developing well-informed and active citizens who are aware of their rights and duties within a democracy. By fostering an environment of electoral awareness and active participation, the club contributes significantly to the promotion of democratic values and the growth of responsible, engaged citizens.
